I’m finishing up a cross-stitching project. All I have left is to put on little beads. Should I use the embroidery hoop to keep the cloth taut like normal? My concern is that the hoop will mess up the beads when it’s time to adjust it and move on to a different part of the piece.

I’ve been using my mother’s Singer Meritt 4530 for years now, and am now looking to buy a machine for myself. I generally sew purses, mend clothes, etc, but am looking to get more into making clothing/accessories as well as quilting. Is there a good, solid, all around type of sewing machine that I should be looking at? What type of features should I look for in a machine that would allow them to work for the type of sewing that I want to do?
I have light skin, hazel eyes, and dark brown hair.
My dress is a short to the knee with a satin ribbon on the waist, and has metallic embroidery on the front part of the waist.
Im going to a graduation party today at night so Im thinking if an edgy smokey eye look but nothing too dramatic..
Im open to suggestions
